Avaya Winners of TADHack Mini-Hackathon Create Next-Generation Communications-enabled Applications

ORLANDO, FL --(Marketwired - March 14, 2018) - Enterprise Connect - Avaya Holdings Corp. (NYSE: AVYA) announced the winners of the TADHack mini-hackathon that created new applications based on the company's developer platforms, Avaya Breeze and Avaya Zang Cloud. The winners, Team Vote with Me and Team Holdr, each received the top award from Avaya for innovative solutions that were built over the two days of the hackathon.

Avaya co-sponsored the TADHack mini-hackathon held as a pre-event to Enterprise Connect, a leading industry conference dedicated to enterprise communications and collaboration technologies. The two-day event, held on the campus of Valencia College, provided developers hands-on experience with telecom APIs, Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS), Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS), Unified Communications and Collaboration, etc.

The top award-winning innovations included:

Team Vote with Me - Using Avaya Breeze, the Arrow IoT gateway and portal and Avaya Zang, in addition to technology from another hackathon sponsor, team members created a real-time, multimedia voting application that allows audience members to respond to a presenter's question by sending an SMS to a phone number from their mobile phone or using the phone's gyroscopic sensors to wave the phone, which will be interpreted as a vote. Results are tallied in real-time and displayed in a pie chart that is continuously refreshed as results come in.

Team Holdr - Developed by team members using Avaya Zang, Holdr is an application that enables customers to make better or more entertaining use of their time waiting on hold for a customer service agent. Callers are given the options of playing a trivia game, choosing their music preference or selecting self-service technical support to help troubleshoot an issue.

Additional teams with innovations garnering recognition from Avaya include:

  • Team Ciphertext - a mobile application enabling smart-lock users to control and share access with trusted friends.
  • Ghosted - a dating application that enables anonymity by masking phone numbers while allowing users to communicate via SMS, MMS and voice.

Avaya Breeze and Avaya Zang Cloud development environments enable developers, consultants and solution providers to quickly and easily build communications-enabled applications and workflows to support a wide range of use cases and vertical industries.

"TADHack-mini Orlando was the largest yet! We are proud Avaya sponsored TADHack, so the participants could hack on both Avaya Breeze and Avaya Zang, giving them hands-on experience of these environments. Avaya ended up with 9 hacks created on its platforms that demonstrated the ease with which a broad range people can create compelling solutions to problems that matter to them using Avaya."
