Death of an inmate at Archambault Institution

On January 16, 2018, Edward Eli Francis, an inmate of Archambault Institution, died while in our custody. He died of natural causes following an illness.

At the time of his death, Mr. Edward Eli Francis, 64 years old, had been serving an indeterminate sentence for second degree murder since January 19, 2001.

The inmate's relatives have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident and contact the police and the coroner as required.
